Mission of a Machinery Supervisor

The mission of a Machinery supervisor is as follows:

to ensure, by attending inspection at various stages, that the ships machinery, equipments & systems are constructed in accordance with the Rules (Classification Society and Administration), approved plans, contract specifications and agreed shipyard procedure and standards.


Role

The machinery supervisor must in the course of construction of vessel take care of the following areas:

  • Machinery & Equipments inspections i.e shop trials or FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), onboard installations & trials etc
  • Piping systems inspections
