CONCEPT

I have been thinking about designing this for the past few weeks,as seeing the depths of ocean is a childhood dream of mine as of many others and I am ambitious about this project that this will be a very good tool for exploring the the underwater mysteries. At first the intentions was to make a submarine(don't read submersible[1]) for educational and tourism purpose as mentioned in the objective. But now I am thinking about constraining it to tourism purpose now and later integrate it to educational and even to a modern defense module. Before mentioning about the task I think I should give a small introduction about submarines. Skip it if you are time bound or an expert.

INTRODUCTION

As to keep this brief, I am not much into history. Submarines[2] are autonomous vehicles capable of operation under water. The first successful submarine/submersible was built in 1620 by Cornelius Jacobszoon Drebbel[3], Dutch man in the service of James 1 of England[4].Centuries after, now submarines are common and widely used for both military and civilian purposes. The military purpose includes attacking enemy ships or submarines, aircraft carrier protection, conventional land attack, ballistic missile submarines as part of nuclear strike force, reconnaissance, and covert insertion of special forces. Civilian uses for submarine include marine science, salvage, exploration and facility inspection and maintenance. They are used in tourism and for academic research and for specialized functions like search and rescue or underwater sea cable repair.

MY PROJECT

This project has been divided into various phases. Phases can be added or removed as per the requirement.

PHASE 1

Contents

Data collection

The aim is to collect maximum available data about submarines, both technical and nontechnical. The deadline is set to this process is 1/Jan/2009.

Preliminary study

Scratch drawing and determining the shape

note - if anyone have any data related to submarines, please send it to syam@navgathi.org. It will be deeply appreciated.
