Solar Passenger Boats Design

Solar passenger boats are not a new phenomenon. However, most of the attempts in the past have been installation of solar panels, batteries and electric motors (inboard or outboard) to an existing boat. This approach is not appropriate as the hull is not designed for such high optimization as demanded by the limited solar power. The boats built under this approach have limitation either in speed or endurance.

In recent years, there has been attempts by some companies to come out with highly optimized design of the hull to meet the performance criteria. In this section, we will try to walk you through the design process to achieve a high quality product.

Process

The key to any design is to finalize the mission parameters. Without a clarity on that, the design is bound to be fraught with issues.
